'The father of ex-mayor Austin is one of the most successful gardeners in this part of the world.' He had a wonderful vegetable garden on his lot at 17th & Hill Sts. 'He is a hard worker and although near seventy years old he works harder than many a younger man. He frequently gets several crops in one season.' He begins to prepare his garden for early spring radishes in Jan.
